[ 273.482630] Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Bluetooth: hci_core: Fix possible buffer overflow
struct hci_dev_info has a fixed size name[8] field so in the event that
hdev->name is bigger than that strcpy would attempt to write past its
size, so this fixes this problem by switching to use strscpy. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
riscv: VMAP_STACK overflow detection thread-safe
commit 31da94c25aea ("riscv: add VMAP_STACK overflow detection") added
support for CONFIG_VMAP_STACK. If overflow is detected, CPU switches to
`shadow_stack` temporarily before switching finally to per-cpu
`overflow_stack`.
If two CPUs/harts are racing and end up in over flowing kernel stack, one
or both will end up corrupting each other state because `shadow_stack` is
not per-cpu. This patch optimizes per-cpu overflow stack switch by
directly picking per-cpu `overflow_stack` and gets rid of `shadow_stack`.
Following are the changes in this patch
- Defines an asm macro to obtain per-cpu symbols in destination
register.
- In entry.S, when overflow is detected, per-cpu overflow stack is
located using per-cpu asm macro. Computing per-cpu symbol requires
a temporary register. x31 is saved away into CSR_SCRATCH
(CSR_SCRATCH is anyways zero since we're in kernel).
Please see Links for additional relevant disccussion and alternative
solution.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Do mark_chain_precision for ARG_CONST_ALLOC_SIZE_OR_ZERO
Precision markers need to be propagated whenever we have an ARG_CONST_*
style argument, as the verifier cannot consider imprecise scalars to be
equivalent for the purposes of states_equal check when such arguments
refine the return value (in this case, set mem_size for PTR_TO_MEM). The
resultant mem_size for the R0 is derived from the constant value, and if
the verifier incorrectly prunes states considering them equivalent where
such arguments exist (by seeing that both registers have reg->precise as
false in regsafe), we can end up with invalid programs passing the
verifier which can do access beyond what should have been the correct
mem_size in that explored state.
To show a concrete example of the problem:
0000000000000000 <prog>:
0: r2 = *(u32 *)(r1 + 80)
1: r1 = *(u32 *)(r1 + 76)
2: r3 = r1
3: r3 += 4
4: if r3 > r2 goto +18 <LBB5_5>
5: w2 = 0
6: *(u32 *)(r1 + 0) = r2
7: r1 = *(u32 *)(r1 + 0)
8: r2 = 1
9: if w1 == 0 goto +1 <LBB5_3>
10: r2 = -1
0000000000000058 <LBB5_3>:
11: r1 = 0 ll
13: r3 = 0
14: call bpf_ringbuf_reserve
15: if r0 == 0 goto +7 <LBB5_5>
16: r1 = r0
17: r1 += 16777215
18: w2 = 0
19: *(u8 *)(r1 + 0) = r2
20: r1 = r0
21: r2 = 0
22: call bpf_ringbuf_submit
00000000000000b8 <LBB5_5>:
23: w0 = 0
24: exit
For the first case, the single line execution's exploration will prune
the search at insn 14 for the branch insn 9's second leg as it will be
verified first using r2 = -1 (UINT_MAX), while as w1 at insn 9 will
always be 0 so at runtime we don't get error for being greater than
UINT_MAX/4 from bpf_ringbuf_reserve. The verifier during regsafe just
sees reg->precise as false for both r2 registers in both states, hence
considers them equal for purposes of states_equal.
If we propagated precise markers using the backtracking support, we
would use the precise marking to then ensure that old r2 (UINT_MAX) was
within the new r2 (1) and this would never be true, so the verification
would rightfully fail.
The end result is that the out of bounds access at instruction 19 would
be permitted without this fix.
Note that reg->precise is always set to true when user does not have
CAP_BPF (or when subprog count is greater than 1 (i.e. use of any static
or global functions)), hence this is only a problem when precision marks
need to be explicitly propagated (i.e. privileged users with CAP_BPF).
A simplified test case has been included in the next patch to prevent
future regressions. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/i915/dmc: Add sanity check for DMC load address
For DMC firmware header version 3, the firmware load address is stored
in dmc_info->start_mmioaddr and later used by dmc_load_program().
Unlike the MMIO address table, the firmware load address is not
validated. Add a sanity check to ensure it is within the valid range.

| SQLite before 3.53.2 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the FTS5 full-text search extension that allows attackers to crash the process by supplying a crafted database with a malformed FTS5 leaf page. Attackers can set an oversized term length in the leaf page so that fts5LeafSeek() reads past the end of the page buffer while comparing terms during an FTS5 MATCH query, in applications compiled with SQLITE_ENABLE_FTS5. |
| A flaw was found in polkit. When processing input that begins with a null byte, an arithmetic error in the authentication agent helper causes an integer underflow during buffer length calculation, resulting in an out-of-bounds memory read. An attacker capable of supplying crafted input can trigger this flaw, potentially causing an application crash and resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). |
| libosmocore through 1.14.1 contains out-of-bounds reads in the GSM 04.80 supplementary-service component parsers in src/gsm/gsm0480.c. This allows a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information. |
| A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in Fortinet FortiOS 7.4.0 through 7.4.1, FortiOS 7.2 all versions, FortiOS 7.0 all versions, FortiOS 6.4 all versions, FortiPAM 1.8.0 through 1.8.2, FortiPAM 1.7 all versions, FortiPAM 1.6 all versions, FortiPAM 1.5 all versions, FortiPAM 1.4 all versions, FortiPAM 1.3 all versions, FortiPAM 1.2 all versions, FortiPAM 1.1 all versions, FortiPAM 1.0 all versions, FortiProxy 7.4.0 through 7.4.13, FortiProxy 7.2 all versions may allow a privileged authenticated attacker who can bypass stack protection and ASLR to execute arbitrary code or commands via crafted HTTP requests. |
| An Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input vulnerability in rpd of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an adjacent OSPF peer to disclose rpd memory or cause a rpd crash via a malformed OSPF packets. |
| lwIP 2.0.0 through 2.2.1 built with the SNMP agent contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in snmp_pbuf_stream_writeto() that bounds copies by pbuf->len instead of remaining bytes. Remote unauthenticated attackers knowing the read community can send fragmented SNMP requests to receive adjacent receive-buffer or pool memory echoed in responses. |
| Wasmtime 46.0.0 before 48.0.6 and 49.0.0 before 49.0.3 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows malicious Wasm modules to panic the host because the may_leave flag is not cleared during realloc. Attackers can call into the host from realloc while lowering stream or future results, such as cancelling the active read or re-waiting a waitable-set, crashing the host. |
| Cpanel::JSON::XS versions from 4.33 before 4.80 for Perl accept malformed UTF-8 in bare hash keys under allow_barekey in decode_hv.
With utf8 and allow_barekey, which relaxed enables, a quoted key is validated as UTF-8 but a bare key's bytes are stored as a UTF-8 flagged string without any check. Malformed UTF-8, control bytes and backslashes reach the decoded hash, while malformed UTF-8 and control bytes in a quoted key or a value are rejected.
Later operations on the key, including lc, uc or encoding the hash again, die with a malformed UTF-8 error. |
| Helm through 4.2.3, fixed in commit ba6c9a2, contains a denial of service vulnerability in the Files.Lines template helper in pkg/engine/files.go that allows attackers to trigger an index out of range panic by including zero-length byte slices in chart files. Attackers can include empty files in Helm charts to cause deterministic render failures across template, install, upgrade, lint, and SDK Engine.Render operations. |
| A security vulnerability has been detected in GNOME libgsf up to 1.14.60. The impacted element is the function ole_info_read_metabat of the file gsf/gsf-infile-msole.c of the component OLE2 Parser. The manipulation leads to heap-based buffer overflow. The attack can be initiated remotely. The identifier of the patch is a8e25560b74f84c3f86df6ca0ac59195fa5af68a. It is recommended to apply a patch to fix this issue. |
| Out-of-bounds read in NTS extension field parsing in NTPsec ntpd 1.1.4 through 1.2.5 allows a remote attacker to crash the daemon via an NTS Authenticator and Encrypted Extension Fields (AEEF) field with an oversized nonce length. |
| Out-of-bounds read in the Motorola Oncore refclock driver in NTPsec ntpd before 1.2.6 allows an attacker who controls the GPS receiver's serial data to crash ntpd or disclose memory via a PPS Control (@@Gc) reply with an out-of-range mode byte. |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in the JJY refclock driver in NTPsec ntpd before 1.2.6 allows an attacker who controls the Telephone JJY time source to corrupt memory or crash ntpd via more than six time replies. |
| AnĀ Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input vulnerability in the routing daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an adjacent attacker to cause a denial of service by sending a specific IS-IS SRv6 packet when SRv6 and Flexible Algorithm are enabled. |
| When writing a long cookie name and value to a Netscape cookie jar, a remote
HTTP server can make `curl` write a record that exceeds its line-length
parsing limit. Consequently, any subsequent `curl` invocation reading from
that same cookie jar using `--cookie` silently aborts parsing prematurely upon
encountering the too long line, ignoring all subsequent valid cookies in the
file. |
